What's Cooking?
on this rainy afternoon?
got the opera blaring, opened the big red early this morning, and have the red gravy simmering w/sausage, the stuffed eggplant singing w/shrimp, the angel hair slippery when wet, and the olive loaf rising.
alla salute!

After Mon & Tues, even the calendar says W-T-F!

Re: What's Cooking?
If the eggplant is singing you'd better cork up big red.
Now why does it sound dirty when I say it?

Sounds delightful!
I won't be doing any cooking until Dom's appetite returns. Right now, I'm shoving half-sandwiches down him a couple times a day. *sighing*

Re: What's Cooking?
EC that sounds like my typical Sundays. I love Italian (Opera, wine and food!) but alas, I was working all day today. Went well though so no complaints. Hopefully I'll be cooking up a storm tomorrow.

Re: What's Cooking?
Marinated redfish on the halfshell, stewed okra and tomatoes, potatoes au gratin, corn on the cob (sweetie does not like okra), parmesan breadsticks and now for dessert the boys are having fresh fruit salad covered in Hershey's syrup.
I like kids. They taste like chicken.

Chicken/asparagus/mushroom risotto, garnished with grape tomatoes and served with an inexpenisive Pinot Noir.
Definitely an end of week "rummage" meal, but still quite good.

Re: What's Cooking?
EC inspired me.
Bam called me yesterday and instructed me to pick up some linguini and shrimp and create something. Being the obedient girlfriend, I did. After mass we stopped at Rouse's for the fresh pasta, shrimp and tasso. I sweated out a chopped onion, a bit of celery and some mushrooms. Added fresh minced garlic and tasso to that and let it get happy. Added a good amount of white wine and let that simmer down. I threw in some basil from the Hollygrove market too. When it was ready added heavy cream and the shrimp. Tossed the pasta with that and it was wonderful. The shrimp were amazing, very flavorful and ..just amazing.
Had that with a caprese salad and some fresh bread. And a couple bottle of Italian reds. Wonderful! After working all day Saturday and part of Sunday, it was a great finish to the weekend.
