O'Donnell's in Ponchatoula
O'Donnell's in Ponchatoula
Has anybody ever been here? It's a fantastic place in the historic section of Ponchatoula right were the tracks cross the main drag. It used to be a place called C'est Bon which was also fairly good. The new owners Sean and Phil O'Donnell (the chef) have created a restaurant that could stand with almost anything in the city. It's becoming sort of a go-to for my wife and me. We've been there many times.
Some standouts are the crab cakes with roasted corn salsa and this delicious baked French brie. Delicious lamb chops and they always knock fish out of the park.
The building, as I said, is in the historic section of Ponchatoula. The walls are the original antique brick and the the space is a neat two level. Very subdued lighting, very attentive service, and incredible food. I am a big fan of Dakota in Covington and I compare the food here very favorably with it. Once in a while my wife and I will want to "take a ride", and we've chosen this over Dakota several times.
I was curious to see if anyone was familiar with it, because I don't recall it being mentioned here.

We've been for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. What a great place to land during a day of antiques and strawberries.

I have heard great things about this place. I did hear that Phil had been in an auto accident of some sort and had been out for a while, but I thnk that was a while back. I need to go there. My tangi friends love it.

We always eat at Paul's. It never looks open for lunch on the weekends. Is it?

Lunch is from 11 am to 3 pm Mon thru Sat. I can never tear myself away from Paul's, though. Maybe we should give O'Donnell's a try on one of our Berrytown visits. http://odonnells-restaurant.com/LunchMenu.html (Note to Mrs. Fury: They have cheeseburgers.....blue cheese).Mrs. Fury wrote:We always eat at Paul's. Blue cheese burgers are my favorite kind. Well, anything with blue cheese is fine by me.
