So Friday evening we decided to go to Don Victor's with our neighbors. We've been there once before and had a great experience. Truly authentic Latino food with a band an all.
We get there and immediately notice something not right. No cars. At 7pm on a Friday that's more than a little strange. But we go inside anyway. There's a crowd of Hispanics around the bar and we are greeted by a very surprised, young guy who spoke minimal English. Not a table in the place was occupied.
So of course I plop my a$$ down on one because I love an adventure. They young kid comes by and we ask for a menu. Sorry, no menus. Ok, will you have a band tonight? Uh...no we only have a limited menu. No band available.
No problem. We came here before and liked so I'm sure your cooks would do fine. "Uh, we're new now. Today is first day. We from Honduras and will cook you something good."
Now, realize what's going on in Hounduras rught now. The people at the bar were screaming at the TV and cutting up.
Now to the food.... We all got some kind of charred carne with frijoles, cabbage, and something similar to pico de gallo. And each had a side of fried plantains. The meat was very tasty but somewhat tough. The black bean paste was forgettable. The plantains were excellent. The pico de gallo was very good.
For drinks we we had Corona's. Not at all what I wanted, but all they had. One at our table had a rita which was horrible.
While eating another couple (two women, one spoke Spanish) came in and sat down. Once the kid went to their table they promptly left. Not sure why but I got the feeling they expected Don Victor's.
The place doesn't have a name yet so let's just call it "The Restaurant formerly known as Don Victor's."
Each person had 2 drinks, an entrée and fried plantains. Bill was $42 per couple. Not bad but very, very limited.
Not recommended unless you speak Spanish and like Honduran food.

Not to worry. Restaurant.com will issue a code allowing you to get another coupon for any participating restaurant in any city. Just go to their website and get the number to call.Jerry wrote:Damn...I haven't used my Restaurant.com yet

Your report had me cracking up, sounded like a great sitcom.
Alas, I never had a chance to get there.

My wife and I ate there once and it was decent. Hate to see them go.
