Fat Hen on Citrus
Needed breakfast today where there might be some TV available to view the Wimbledon men's final. Fat Hen on Citrus fit the bill. Wasn't too-too crowded, and an available booth that gave both me and the missus each a view of a TV was a plus. Hadn't been there in a while-- never before for breakfast-- and the choices were far more than we remembered. I chose an Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and sauteed spinach. Very good-- three poached eggs over two English muffin halves was just the right proportion. Mrs. Slow chose the Dutch omelet with sausage, apples and smoked gouda. I tried it, and, again, quite tasty, and a big portion for the price. Mrs. Slow had a Bloody Mary, too, but found it rather spicy, and could not finish it. I did, but concurred that it was both too spicy, and the fact it was served over crushed ice was a negative, IMO. Both offerings came with home fries that, I must say, were very good. They appeared to be merely redskin new potatoes quartered, probably par-boiled, and fried until they had a bit of caramelized color on them. But, swimming in close proximity to the Hollandaise from my Benedict made them all-the-more enjoyable. Service was above-par, and food came out surprisingly quickly. Maybe b/c Shane was there, but hopefully because it was SOP. Recommended.
