We've lost the vast majority of regulars here. Some are participating both here and elsewhere. Since their problems went unaddressed for so long, both their frustration and departure are understandable. So, the question is: how do we get them back?

We saw a problem and we were trying to figure out the best way to fix the problem, That is the reason for the new software not even a month after the launch of the other software.. We would love for the user base to return.. We are planning a new action towards moderation... And Its pretty safe to say this software will be around for a while, i have used it in the past for my personal forums.. It just took a little while to get to this point because it didn't really fit with the whole scope of the project that we are trying to do here.. but we will just have to make it work IMO this is by far the best forum software on the market..

I had to post from a new account because they won't reset my old account and when I posted over there, I got a message that the post has to be reviewed by a moderator before it can be posted. Go ahead, make a bad situation worse.

Alex wrote:Interesting! I just got the email myself. I think I will just stay here as long as this forum is jumping and the Admin is so on top of things. I think Leigh Landeche is a stand up guy and a hard worker, but I do not like dealing with Kimbalimba, and she will still probably be the primary moderator there. Leigh is to busy doing web development to moderate the forums.

edited to add: When he (Leigh) was working for me I wish I could have cloned him.
The ironic thing is that kind of cheapness and unresponsiveness was really the hallmark of the previous neworleans.com site owner(s). I figured when Hammick et al got it they would actually inject some much needed money into improvements in order to take the site to the next level. Instead you get this epic fail. I wonder if they even surf their own site.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. I am not surprised by anything Hammack and Jones do. I seriously doubt they surf there own site. I hear they have 20+ people working there and not one of them took any time to address the problems of the forum users. Low-N-Slow had to run the tech support forum for them which I am sure he recieved no compensation.

In order to take the site to the next level IMO they need to change the business model. All they did is change the look and feel and ad a buttload more content. They did get a few new contributors and I like what Kenny Trahan is doing, but it is pretty much same ole same ole. The internet changes but nocom stays the same.

Way I see it is this--

Change upon change upon change, to the point the the last change was the breaking point.
So a new bar opens, and it's everything we were asking for; attentive bartenders, fast service, and a lot of old friends dropping in.

And when the old place sees it's patrons heading out the door, it suddenly decides to behave and straighten up.

So the question is this:
Do I abandon the new found hangout to give yet another chance to the old haunt, which will surely go through another metamorphosis yet again?
Kinda like leaving the new flame for the abusive ex.

I'm staying.

As it stands right now, I will continue to check TOB, but this will be my "home" until further notice.

Appreciate it. As was said elsewhere, we could have made money betting on exactly what would happen in short order over at TOB after we turned this puppy on, and they were made aware of it. And it did, exactly. We guess imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery.

Oh, and this is not Alex.

I am staying here for now. The conversation flows better and we seem to be much more active than we have been in several previous incarnations of the board. I really do think an agenda driven food expert, moderating, chiming in on every thread frustrates discussion.

Furthermore TNOB STILL doesn't tell you when you have a PM.

I actually agree with you.
