Open on Sunday???
Open on Sunday???
Have my sister in town this week and am looking for someplace open on sunday. We were going to WINO to taste some wines so anyplace close to but not limited to that general area is great.

Tommy's opens at 5:30 on Sundays.-that's where I'd go.
There's also Grand Isle (not my favorite), Ruth's Chris, Ernst Cafe, Gordon Biersch, Lucy's, Mother's...all very close to WINO.

We always start with the oysters 3 ways (Rockefeller, Bienville, Tommy's)-but if you have a group, get the appetizer combo. I'm not sure if it's even on the menu, but ask your waiter if you don't see it.
My 2 favorite entrees would be the duck and the crab sardou. The crabmeat au gratin is also very good but too rich for my liking-a taste is usually good enough for me.
The Fish en Papillote is a good light dish if that's your thing.
Enjoy!

Re: Open on Sunday???
went to tommy's had a great time. We had planned to go to WINO first but they were closed, I called friday and they assured me they would be open sunday, but whatever, we had a bottle of prosecco to start. Shared the sweetbread app and oysters 3 ways. The sweetbreads were good, I thought a little overcooked, but my Mom and sister had never tried sweetbreads before and proclaimed them delicious. I liked the pairing with a perfectly fried peice of eggplant. Had a bottle of malbec, punto finale with dinner. Sister had crab sardou which was good, Mom and I had fish (drum) with crabmeat and menuire sauce. I found the crabmeat somewhat flavorless and the dish was a little undersauced. The fish was cooked and seasoned perfectly. We had the bread pudding with bananas foster for dessert.
Overall impression was good creole italian (although somewhat boring menu) with excellent service. Bill was $184 before tip
