Mandeville lakefront eats
The wife and I went to a wedding on the Northshore on Saturday. Since we were real early, we took a quick spin along the Mandeville lakefront and decided that we would like to come back for a sunset meal one day. I saw 3 selections: Rip's on the Lake, The Lakehouse, and Barley Oak. Please provide comments and selections. Thanks.
Celebrate New Orleans! Eat a po'boy, not a SUB.

Of the three your best bet is Rip's. Barley Oak is a noisy bar, with mediocre bar food (but lots of good beer). I hear middling reports about the Lake house but haven't been.
If you want really good food within an easy walk of the lake, I'd suggest Nuvolari's or Cypress instead.

Junipers is excellent but not on the lake.
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

I had a very good meal at Rips a couple weeks back. I agree what the previous poster said about Barley Oak and haven't heard much good about the Lake House.

You're right - when I said Cypress I meant Juniper. I'm getting my trees mixed up.EatinAintCheatin wrote:Junipers is excellent but not on the lake.

Juniper! It's one of my favorite spots on the Northshore.
Barley Oak...I agree with the others. It's noisy and medicre at best. The beer selection is great, but the prices are outrageous. The beer that I drink is $15 a bottle!
I love the atmosphere at Rips...but the service is always slow and inattentive.
I haven't been to The Lake House.

Love to give you a taste test, with yours, and several other similar brews at 1/2 the price.
