Anyone cook this weekend?
I had a great time spending Saturday afternoon in the kitchen. I made Mosca's Chicken Grande and Pasta Bordelaise for dinner. Served with some fresh French Bread and a Creole tomato/red onion/goat cheese salad.
If I knew how to actually use my grill I probably wouldn't have heated the house up but it was fun and everything came out well, so I was happy.
What did y'all cook this weekend?

I got some beautiful 12 count shrimp Friday afternoon that were swimming earlier that day. So I peeled and deveined them and made a killer shrimp stock with the heads and shells. It was so intense that when I tasted it I thought I was drinking liquefied shrimp.
Then Saturday during the day I cooked an all day Gumbo with the shrimp, stock and some leftover Best Stop andouille.
Also made a creole tomato/fresh mozzarella/basil salad, and a potato salad (because my wife's Cajun and it not possible to eat gumbo without potato salad, just ask her).
All served with a nice Riesling from the Rheinhessen.

Re: Anyone cook this weekend?
Friday night I had leftover LaBoca skirt steak with grits.
Saturday, I steamed shrimp at my sister's house. We had that with corn and salad and Four Sister's Chardonnay.-I stumbled across this at the Cellars of River Ridge and had to get it.(being the youngest of 4 girls) It was very good! ~$16/btl
Sunday, I had steak and eggs for breakfast and soba noodles for dinner. Nice lazy Sunday.
And EAC, I agree w/ your wife-gotta have potato salad w/ gumbo...in fact, just plop it right in my bowl of gumbo, thank you.

I didn't cook but I had someone cook for me. I enjoyed everything including dessert.

Bam, want to elaborate on the wines we had with dinner?

I'm pretty sure everyone else wants you to elaborate on dessert...

Seafood Gumbo...something I haven't done in years.
Crab, shrimp, oysters and okra.....I'm getting ready for a cup right now.
...and I don't want to hear about dessert

We had the Ramey Hudson Valley Chardonnay which never got cold enough. I should have put it in my freezer before coming over. Then we had a 2000 Bordeaux. I bought it a few years ago for about 25 bucks. I just never got around to drinking it. It definitely was on starting to decline but there was some good fruit to it with some prevalent secondary notes.
