Rum House had no problem.

It pays to have good attorneys!
Puccino's had a very good attorney, a friend of mine, however, Puccino's also wanted video poker as part of the deal. It didn't happen, so they packed up and left. Kinda shows their true colors. On the same note, the large metal building next to Sake Cafe (Perch actually) was issued a liquor license only if they closed their restaurant at midnight. The guy refused, packed all his "restaurant equipment" and left. True colors again, he was trying to open a late night bar. It was to be called the Sugar Shack or something like that.

Whatever happened to Lorin ? I haven't heard of her in a while. I miss her juicy bits of restaurant gossip, not !
As far as the Rum House, I really can't see an unproven, brand new restaurant ever being on the Food Network unless they were at least the runners up in one of the networks lame, dramatic new contests. I hope the Rum House does well though. Offering what I would want from a "Rum House" whatever that is. The name doesn't leave much to your im*****tion other than, Rum and House, put together. I hope I am pleasantly surprised.

From what I understood from neighborhood meetings and such was that Puccino's wanted video poker because their rent was so high they needed something else so they could swing it. The neighborhood obviously opposed it because we figured if they got a liquor license then it was all over, whether it was still Puccino's or a new incarnation. We pretty much saw this coming. Being proactive is a good thing.

The package stores as BTG mentioned do not seem to be an issue in that part of Magazine. Fortunately the Ghetto Spur (Discount Zone) doesn't sell liquor and wont due to religious reasons.
“I'm sure when Peyton Manning was growing up he always wanted to throw the TD pass that gave the Saints a Super Bowl win," Jorge Arangure wrote. "Now he has."

Well that is a good deal then. Glad you all have been successful against that.

"The Rum House, Magazine Street’s newest neighbor, just a block down from The Bulldog, open its doors—with the help of restaurant consultant and renowned Chef David Adjey (pictured in the middle of Kelly and Michael). The first-time restaurant owners will be featured on an episode of Adjey’s boot camp TV show on Food Network Canada."
After Mon & Tues, even the calendar says W-T-F!

Went tonight, its like a Lucy's with a little better food. I kept looking for the rum list but didn't see it. I saw a list of flavored rums but that is total BS. No hot sauces. This is a dumb drunken concept. If it works, fine. When I go to the "islands" I have a great time but I can't wait to get home for some great food. Unless Chef Rene is cooking for you at Cap Jaluca!
