Dom's daughter Christine is in town. She's cooking her paw blueberry pancakes (if she gets her arse out there and starts picking!), some baked cheese grits and bacon for dinner.
"Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference."
I cooked for my dad today. Actually, I fixed just the 1st course. We had grilled salmon (cedr plank style) for an entree, which was god.
I fixed a salad of mixed greens (romaine and mixed baby greens) with thinly sliced avacado, seared scallops and a citrus/cilantro vinaigrette. It was out of site. Perfect for this hot weather.

I have to ask, as you are the reigning Abita czar, what was your beverage today?
As John Wayne once said: "Life's tough. It's even tougher if you're stupid."
I didn't cook a damn thing. A crowd of folks grilled by a friend's pool and had pork tenderloin, salad, grilled veggies, new potatoes and for dessert, lemon pie. All courtesy of the two best girls in the world, my wife and daughter. The best!!
Woke up at the Windsor Court and had a great breakfast and some even better bloody marys. Left there at about noon, and headed to the in laws (who watched the kids the night before) for a good BBQ and a few beers.
Big breakfast at the Diner, followed by a trip to the Zoo to walk it off. Too hot to do anything but catch the sea lion show and then get the heck out of there. Later, grilled flank steak on the Weber, served with salsa verde, and accompanied by a small green salad and some freshly-fried tostones seasoned with a splash of mojo criollo. Talked to Dad for over an hour on the phone. A little wine and TV to relax before getting back to the grind tomorrow.
"I find the pastrami to be the most sensual of all the salted cured meats. Hungry?"
Grins...well, I made Father's Day chili for Doug. Willie and Ernie said they thought their dad wanted chili. Yes, we had chili on one of the hottest days of the year. Doug seemed to enjoy it though...and the wienies enjoyed laying on their daddy's lap in the recliner all day.
I took my dad to Jack Dempsy's. It was the first visit for either of us and I think his eyeballs were about to pop out when he saw the size of the seafood platter for two that came to the table.
After lunch, we went to Angelo Braccatos for a first time visit as well.
As for me cooking, I did treat myself to a great NY strip steak from Whole Foods on Friday night and told my wife that this would be my fathers day meal. I normally wouldn't spend that much on a steak, but I was feeling a little buzz after watching the LSU game and that steak just looked too good to pass up.
