Went yesterday for lunch and had a great meal.
Salads were al first rate. My seafood platter with softshell crab was great, everything fried perfectly and lots of it. Over a dozen oysters, a dozen shrimp, a half dozen pieces of catfish and a nice sized softshell. All reallt good. Wife had a salad topped with two crabcakes and enjoyed it very much. Another DC had grilled fish dish, topped with shrimp and crabmeat and he said it was delicious, and it certainly looked it. His wife had a pasta dish that was served with a huge chicken breast. She liked it.
I hadn't been here in a couple years, and I was very impressed. We'll be going back soon.
The only bad thing was a waiter, who sucked whole-heartedly. He was absurdly slow and I had to go to the bar myself once to get our second round of drinks. Hopefully he's learning.

One thing I forgot to add was the bread pudding. Great and huge.
The meal with 4 beers and 3 cocktails came to $108. A great deal.
Rip's on the Lake
Re: Rip's on the Lake
Rip's is one of those places that I had a great meal the only time I ever went, but never returned for some reason. I guess it is just out of sight, out of mind.
It has been several years since I ate there but I still remember the Stuffed Flounder as being excellent. It was a doormat for sure. Our entire party, comprised mostly out-of-town visitors, all raved about the place.
Thanks for the reminder. I need to get back there soon.

I've enjoyed a few meals there and the food and atmosphere were great...and the services always...not so great.

They have some of the best onion rings in the area. We use to drive from NO on Sundays just to get them.
