[Gourmondo]

We hadn't been in a while and Ms. Gourmondo wanted to dine somewhere al fresco, so we staked out a spot on the patio last evening. The weather last night was perfect for the patio - not something you can usually say at the end of May. There was a light breeze as the champagne arrived and we tried to figure out what to order. For apps, she had the crabcake, which was very nice and I had the charcuterie plate which was the pork terrine, which was was understated and served with two varieties of mustard. Daughter had the vichyssoise, which was just right on a night like this, not too thin or too thick, just the right amount of herby goodness. For entrees, wife had the roast duck cured in cane syrup and the confit leq quarter in strawberry-rhubarb demi-glace and goat cheese grits that were really good. I had the seared scallops on the server's recommendation, which were very, very good - this from someone who is not usually a fan of scallops. They were tender and well-seasoned, on a bed of spinach and a corn fumet. They whipped up some eggplant with spinach and leeks for my veggie daughter that was very nice, but a bit ambitious for her palate just yet. Since we were on a roll by this time, we opted for desserts, which consisted of a chocolate torte, chocolate pate with a Grand Marnier reduction and the sorbet sampler. Great bread, too. Service was attentive, helpful and gracious throughout. Nothing but good here, folks.

I'm afraid I overdid eating because, even though I worked in my office most of the day across from the Dome, I couldn't work up the energy to walk across Poydras to hit the food activities there this afternoon. Looked like they were drawing a good crowd, though. Maybe next year.

Good review. Martinique is definitely on my top 5 list. We've never had a bad experience there.

The crab cobb salad is one of my favorite dishes this time of year.....as stated above, service is on the money, without being in the way or overbearing......love this place

I had a ho hum experience there about two years ago and hadn't been back. Anyway, it was suggested that since I couldn't make a Nowfe dinner, we go here the following night. Anyway, I would echo Gourmondo's sentiments. Terrific.
