Group: I'm thinking of trying this place for lunch. Daniel's. I've read the Gambit piece which sounds good.

I've eaten there for dinner a few times. Pretty simple menu and heavy on the garlic. Everything is pretty well prepared, though it may not overwhelm you (other than the garlic). At the price point they're at, I would say it's very good. Recommended.

I posted about this place a few months ago. I live in the neighborhood and was very excited about the possibilities, but have had a decent lunch and a very poor dinner there. The price as stated above is the most attractive thing about this place. Dinner was out and out weird. We were the only table in the place, a strange (and drunk) lady was fronting and was just out in left field. The food was fair at best, and the topper was the chef/owner literally sat at the next table and didn't even speak to us, much less ask about our meal. The redeming thing that night was there was a guitar player from South America playing that was quite good. Sadly this was our last time , no third strike for me......

I've been a handful of times, but not in the past 3 months.
It's time I revisited, because we did enjoy it every time.

I've been to Daniel Tobar's previous incarnations many times & was happy to hear he'd opened a new place. All of his places have been somewhat quirky & I'm okay with that.

Willifred, I wonder if you said anything about the food.
I've always known the chef/owner to be more than happy to please.
