Idiot on ESPN radio was saying how there is no drama to the Belmont. It is amazing how poorly the sports media understands horse racing.

You know, Bam, horse racing just hasn't had many real heroes of late. Seems like this long spell without a triple crown winner has served to lessen the sport rather than make the effort even more spectacular. My grandparents were big fans and went to the Derby many tiimes. My grandmother had a framed drawing of Whirlaway in her home. Eddie Arcaro was her favorite jockey. I remember going to her house to watch the Derby with her after my grandfather passed away. She loved her horses. The days of Spectacular Bid, Secretariat and Affirmed are long gone. Barbaro and Big Brown have managed to generate some excitement as well as the filly last year but not much else going on out there in racing. Sad....
