Brigtsen's Charlie's Seafood in Harahan

Post by EatinAintCheatin »

I had heard a rumor about this about a month ago but could not verify it. I was hoping it would be true and voila, it is!!!

Listed on Tom Fitzmorris' board is a letter from Frank Brigtsen stating that he plans to sign the lease on Monday and open Charlie's to its former glory sometime in June. Being in River Ridge and having a very high regard for Frank's cooking this makes me soooooo happy. I wish it would open tomorrow. Now we'll have Village Inn, Bobby's Seafood, and Charlie's all on Jeff. Hwy. within 1.5 miles.

Excellent!

I read about this today. I sure hope he signed that lease. The article said he planned to open by the end of June. Says it will be what it used to be.........home made everything (before I moved here). Boiled & fried seafood, po-boys and daily lunch plates. My husband used to tell me all the time when we went there how good it was when he was a kid.
We went to Alonzo's every Friday when we started dating and then when they closed, to Charlie's. As John got away from the business, the food got worse and worse. Way too spicy for boiled food and too greasy for fried. Can't wait til it returns to the old days. :toast:
