Keith Young's Lunch

Post by Jesse »

Appetizer-Shrimp Remoulade. Shrimp were perfectly cooked, red remoulade sauce was great.

Entrees- Wife had petite filet, again perfectly cooked. Side of whipped potatoes ans a simple, but good salad. I had the steak sandwich, which at $10, has to be the best deal around. A food long, served on french bread with greens, tomatoes and mayo. Great sandwich. Side of fries.

This place is really good, I like it more and more each visit.

Never been to Keith's place. When he left Young's he opened a sandwich shop in Olde Towne Slidell. Didn't trip my trigger. Now he's got a steak joint in where, Madisonville?

Years ago, when we lived in Slidell, we partied often with his brother, Kevin. Ahhhh, Glory Days! :toast:

I thought the Bicycle shop was Kevin's, not Keith's. Probably wrong. Anyway, they are good restaurant operators. Young's in Slidell is the quintessential good steakhouse of the 60's and 70's. Still pretty good in today's climate.

You're probably right, dawg. I can't remember anymore....

I think that the initial "breakaway" was Assunta's near LaCombe..... their Italian aunt. The joint was fair. That one might have been Keith's. Dunno.:o

I used to live very near Young's Steakhouse in the '80s... Tanglewood subdivision. Went there often. :)

The place is in Madisonville Nanette. It's very, very good. I think it's a good bit better than the one in Slidell, and I think it's easily the best steak on the Northshore. It's a beautiful place too. If you're ever around you should check it out.

In all fairness, I have not been to Keith Young's. I hear it is great. One of my best friends has lunch there regulalry (I don't do leisurley lucnhes; I usually eat at my desk or in my car) and my parents love to go there.

That said, the best steakhouse on the northshore is my house.

Last night, fabulous hickory grilled black pepper and sea salt encrusted black angus filet, with potatoes au gratin and terriyaki marinated, baked, then grilled whole button mushrooms. Awesome plate of food. Just a little something I threw together.

Scared the hell out of me.... the first time I read your post, thought you had marinated your Filet in Teriaki. *cringing and grinning*
