I detest asparagus...
It is the worst thing I've ever eaten.

I have never eaten them from can, yet I still hate them. Maybe I should try them from a can. It could not possibly taste any worse.

Re: I detest asparagus...
As a child, I was quite open to all the things my contemporaries dismissed out-of-hand as contemptible-- spinach, brussels sprouts, broccoli, asparagus. Having only canned asparagus then at my disposal, I found it served chilled with a splash of Wishbone Italian dressing to be my favorite. Much later would I discover the revelation of fresh asparagus, sauteed al dente. There is, however, no wine pairing I can suggest for asparagus.

Checkout my recipe on the recipe site, fried in bacon fat, delicious.

Pardon my perversion, but what asparagus does to your "#1" still amuses me.

Best use for spinach is in great tasting "dips".
Brussels sprouts - bad
I enjoy BS cut in half and sauted in olive oil with garlic and balsamic vinigar. Be careful and peel away spotted outer leaves. Lately some sprouts have little creatures living inside.
Broccoli - bad, but eat it cuz it's good for you
Made better tasting with various sauces made with various cheeses.
Asparagus - good
Simplest topping is butter, lemon juice, paprika.
Peas - worst food on the planet:mad:
If you buy them canned in the U.K. When living in Royston, Herts., I never saw a foodstuff that could vary so in colour, texture, and taste as English canned peas. I enjoy good frozen peas here though, topped with a pad of butter. They also go nice in stir fried fice.
Didn't mean to steal your post, only embellish it.

Re: I detest asparagus...
I love asparagus and brussel sprouts. I can't think of a vegetable that I don't like. I have more problems with meats...I'm weird about textures.
I don't like canned asparagus at all..it's a texture thing..but love it roasted or sauteed. Great stuff.

I hate asparagus, too. I've had it cooked dozens of ways and it's never done anything for me. My main problem with asparagus is its ubiquity, though. I'm really tired of everyone thinking a piece of asparagus on a plate really classes up a meal.

I agree with everything on your list but broccoli. I love it cooked or raw. Peas and brussel sprouts....ICKbuzd wrote:Spinach - good
