Styro crawfish trays

I am hosting a large crawfish boil (75 people) I am in need of those styro trays, large size. I checked at Sam's, they do not have them. I am having this at my house. I have the usual plastic washable ones, but since I am having it at my house with so many, I want throw away.

The place where I am renting the tables, tents, table covers and garbage cans does not supply them.

Any suggestions?

Are you boiling or or having someone else do it? Usually, if you are getting someone like Mr. Mudbug, they will furnish the trays you are talking about. Of course, you could also cover the tables with newspaper and just "dump em out"!!

BTW Dilfan, the table covers are throw away with elastic sides to I can just roll them up and dispose.

Yvette, when you get them can you describe them to me? Are they styro or are they that grayish, reinforced cardboard material?

Each has their pro's and cons but I prefer the latter over the styro.


There used to be a local company that was bought out by some Atlanta company that makes a cardbord square that comes flat and you just fold the sides up to make the tray. Those are nice but take up a lot of garbage space.

Good product.
The only thing I could suggest is to be careful if there is a lot of liquid involved with the crawfish, ie fresh out of the pot. The cardboard absorbs a lot of it, the styro will absorb none of it and could be just a bit messier, depending on how much beer/wine you are serving.
Either way, I am sure you will have a great time!

That's alot of money just for trays!
The styro clamshells are more for takeout. If you are just using them to serve on site, we have always just used the large cardboard, about twice the size of a Popeyes chicken container. We had a priogue to place the hots in, and that allowed them to drain.

Alot "greener" to dispose of, and take up alot less space in trash bags/recepticales.
