This is possibly the second best breakfast in the city after Refuel. Stopped in after court, they had a special shrimp, tomato and gouda omelet that was fantastic. Grits that are just slightly below Refuel's and their coffee is outstanding.
It is a shame the menu is very limited. When they do it up right, this place rocks. Highly Recommended.

Again with the smack talk.bam bam wrote:Grits that are just slightly below Refuel's
Let me sum up. Refuel's grits = very good. Huevos grits = better.

Sounds very good. If the breakfast tour by chance ever makes it out to Metairie (Gasp! So, like, take a cab...), try the Cajun Omelet at City Diner, and tell me what you think.bam bam wrote:... they had a special shrimp, tomato and gouda omelet that was fantastic.

The tour does indeed begin this Sunday. I'm sorry it has too but feces occurs. The worst part is now I have to get up a bit earlier and actually move the car for Sunday breakfast.justagirl wrote:A handful of us lower garden district, irish channel folks are about to embark on our own breakfast tour now that our go to place as gone the way of Pellicano....so we are thinking Surrey's, ReFuel, Huevos....we'll start this Sunday morning with one of them....I'll let ya know.

The hot bartender at La Boca thinks Refuel's grits are better. I'll defer to her expertise.Blue Cross Sux wrote:Again with the smack talk.

We went a few weeks ago after early mass, and I got the Cajun Omelet. Overall, I thought it was very good, but the crawfish were a bit "fishy". Don't know if they were imported, or "borderline", but it was enough to make you notice. Definitely enough to eat though....Admin wrote: try the Cajun Omelet at City Diner, and tell me what you think.
Went again last Sunday and I got the shrimp and grits. Very good and a very large serving which ended up being lunch the following day. DC's got regular breakfast dishes and both enjoyed everything.
