Pelicano

Post by The Bear »

Barring unforeseen circumstances I will be in Kenner at the Pontchartrain Center Wednesday for a food show. I plan to eat at the Pelicano after the show at around 5PM. I am eating early because I need to get back to the hotel to sack out as I have to get up and on the road at 3:30 AM to get back to Lake Charles for 7AM to go to work. I know this is short notice and early to boot but anyone that wants to join me is welcome. Call my cell 1-337-515-7619 that day for any updates. Next weekend I will post on my blog with pictures and provide a link.

Recent news posted elsewhere indicates you're going to have to make other plans. :(

That is too bad.

Unfortunately, I never went and it was probably not a place I was going to be hitting anytime soon just b/c when I come in, I'm usually stuck near downtown. However, everything I heard about it and some of the things that the folks there posted on these boards, always made it a place I really wanted to try if I happened to find myself nearby.

A nice, excellent chef restaurant in Kenner?

Not a good business proposition.

That is what I was thinking.
The owner and chef were both excellent based on my meal there and the few times I met Jeff. Just seems like a rough location and a slowing economy.

There are only so many foodie types in Kenner and only so much money to go around and unfortunatly, most people in Kenner/Metairie think to head downtown for a nice meal and almost nobody from the city is going to go to Kenner.
I saw it happen to a very nice restaurant that opened in Ormond when I lived out there five or so years ago.

Good luck to Chef Cody and Jeff with whatever life brings them.

I am so saddened about this. Great food. Here is a copy of the email that went out:

Very sad they didn't "make it". It was definately on our "to do list" for our next return to New Orleans. :(

I am bummed about it as well. I have been wanting to eat there for a while, and I live in Kenner, but I just have not been eating out a lot in the past year.
