This is the 3rd incarnation at this location since Katrina.nikinik wrote:Where on Terry Parkway is Taqueria Jalisco?
Did you ever get to eat at the Brazilian place that occupied the same location as Country Taste? It wasn't there long and I heard it was expensive for lunch because they charged by the pound...but people did say it was good.
Yes, I did eat there before when it was Brazil Latino and then then 2nd incarnation which lasted less than a month & I can't even remember the name.
All 3 were very good, imho.
Brazil Latino had a by the pound buffet at lunch.
If you piled it on, well, yes, it did cost more.
I tried to keep my servings modest - and that was $7 - 12 a plate which is not bad at all.
Country Taste has a lunch menu & a dinner menu, I think.
At this point, I don't even look at the menu - I know it!
They are open til 3 for lunch - which is great for me.
They serve dinner on Fridays & Saturdays as well as lunch.
While I usually eat there 3 - 5 times a week, I've not gone in the last 2 weeks due to a special work project.
I did hear they were going to keep the regular menu but also get a buffet as well for lunch to help those folks who come from the Court House & City Hall & others who are in a hurry to get a nice hot/cold lunch but didn't have the luxury of a full hour. And yes, that will be sold deli style by the pound.
I'll likely still order off of the menu, but from time to time if there is something I especially like from the buffet I will get that.
They make an incredible pot roast and baked chicken and roasted potatoes.

Whoops, got so caught up in Country Taste, forgot about Taqueria Jalisco.
Here's a great secret not too many people know!
Taqueria Jalisco is open late! The sign says they close at 9 or 10pm, but
they actually usually stay open til 12am or past that on weekends!
It is in the shopping center that houses SAV A LOT. This is near Carol Sue.
Walgreens is on the corner of Carol Sue & Terry Pkway. Head toward the bridge from there & it is on your right in that shopping center. There's a Dollar Store & a thrift store (like a Goodwill, but it's not Goodwill) & various other shops.
It's not a fancy place, you will feel like you're in Mexico.
And as customary in Mexico, when you're ready for the check you need to ask for it.

Good to know! Ok, I wanna go with you next time!Jeeves wrote:I lurves me some Pupuseria Divino Corazon! I can't stop ordering yuca con chicarron and their Faro Del Pacifico.....a sampling of their menu items, including pupusa, pastel de carne, tamal de gallina and that fantastic pickled cabbage I can't remember the name of. Now that my eye doc has moved from Lakeview to Meadowcrest I get to enjoy Pupuseria Divino for lunch a bit more.
Well, after March.
