Aww, I'm so sorry to hear that Isa. I haven't been back to CG since they reopened. I have wonderful memories of it, going back to my childhood. It was a favorite of ours after 7:30a.m. Sunday Mass at Mater Dolorosa.
I've tried all the major features, I think, on City Grill's menu. Everything has been very good.
But yesterday after my philly steak and cheese, I decided that I'll stick to "breakfast" when I go there. They do it SO well, and I love breakfast. (they serve it all the time, yea!)

Well, since I don't get it every day, I'm not tired of the fries yet. Their fries are so good!justagirl wrote:... Judi's Philly Cheese looked really good yesterday. I may try that next time. Though I considered breakfast (and haven't had it yet).

I just wanted to write in and thank all of you for the feedback! Positive and negative, I am using it to try and improve our food and service. Just from the posts that I have read on here we have made the decision to roll out a new menu sometime in April. As of right now we are thinking about doing away with the wraps, and adding a section for a choice of a half sandwich with a cup of soup or a side salad. We are also going to be getting a more extensive dessert menu, we are going to be adding milkshakes, sundaes, and a bigger selection of pies, cakes, and a brownie ala mode. If any of you have any feedback about things you would like to see on the menu I am all ears, and yes I read this forum every day so keep the feedback coming it is the only way we can keep trying to improve.

You are right, he is there at least two or three times a week. He goes with clients or his two sons who also work in his office which is just two blocks away. He constantly raves about all the new things he has been trying. Note to Jason:
the wraps were good, just too big, and they didn't stay wrapped tightly enough. Just my humble opinion. Maybe they just need to be re-worked.

Jason, I'd love to see a run of the mill club sandwich. LOL... you know, thin sliced turkey, bacon, lett & tom. That's the only thing I can think of that isn't on the menu.
And I LOVE the idea of half a sandwich and soup or salad, that would be perfect.
We love the place obviously, ya'll are doing a great job!

My husband and I took some relatives to CD yesterday morning for breakfast. We had a great one.
They gave me a 'frequent diner' card to fill out. After a certain amount is reached, you get six percent off a meal... or you can donate that to a charity. There were several to choose from. I thought that was very cool. I don't have the paper in front of me, but I remember JPAS, SPCA, Children's Hospital.... but there were more.

Ian wrote his usual paint by numbers review of City Diner in this week's Gambit. It sounds like he ate a little of everything on the menu. He liked some things, disliked others. I guess they only took an eighth of a page ad out this week.

Revisited the Diner this weekend to find a few menu revisions. The wraps are gone, replaced by soup du jour/half sandwich combo offerings. Since last we dined, there appears to have been secured a permit for beverages of low alcoholic content, and the installation of mixers for malts and shakes. There's some new major pig-out thing called "bottom of the bowl" that should appeal to the after-hours mega-munchies crowd. There's also now BBQed Shrimp, too (this is a diner, right?)
On the breakfast front, a Crab Cake Benedict dish has been added to the menu. Holy crap, low-carbers stand back. A duo of poached eggs sits atop crab cakes which themselves sit stacked atop rounds of polenta, all smothered with the house Cajun sauce, with a sprinkle of green onion. It was all I could do to finish both and waddle out the door. As an aside, I wonder why this particular dish comes with the same grits-or-hash browns options as the rest of the breakfast menu (polenta and grits?). Either makes the already-filling dish too heavy, and maybe just a cup of fresh cut fruit instead would have been a better accompaniment. Even though I was totally stuffed, I was wishing I had a piece of toast to sop up the very last of the egg yolk and Cajun sauce. (Burp!)

I went today and was really impressed. I had the cajun burger on jalepeno cheddar bread and it was awesome. Wife had the club and loved it. The cook was going to each table asking everyone how their food was. Super-reasonably priced. What a great addition to the breakfast/24-hour food scene.

Somebody sent me a link to this half-off gift certificate. Appears to be a shipping charge added to mail a physical coupon. Still a good deal, though, if you have enough people to use it all at once. The menu link there looks like the old menu. They're on restaurant.com, too.
