Wine Surprise

Post by Schuarta »

I just opened a:

CK Mondavi 2005 Wildcreek Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon

to go with two beautiful steaks I brought home. That's Mondavi who built the $50 million dollar theatre complex at UC Davis, that you pass driving from San Francisco to Sacramento on Interstate 80.

The color is deep and rich. The bouquet is deliteful. The taste is excellent. And the damn bottle has a SCREW CAP!

:confused::confused::confused:

So, without wanting to seem snarky or provocative, what's the problem?

You apparently bought it to drink it, not to store it. Again, what's the problem with the screw cap?

CK Mondavi wine is the Peter Mondavi branch of the family. Screwtop no surprise there, but, then again, screwtop no longer holds the connotation it once did. The theater at UC Davis was funded by the late Robert Mondavi (whom most people think of when they think of the words wine and Mondavi) and his wife, Magrit.

Diner was fine. The wine was fine. The screw cap seemed strange.

If a waiter had opened the wine at a restaurant, would he have given me the cap to check and smell?
