Boucherie for lunch

Post by jodyrah »

Three of us went for lunch Sat.
Apps:

Mussels w/greens: mussels steamed in pot liquor, greens and sauteed onions on the side, topped with a few excellent fried grit strips, generous portion

Black and blue arugula salad: carpaccio topped with blue cheese dressed arugula...all of us thought this was the best dish of the meal

boudin balls: 3 w/aioli, too much rice, not enough zip

parm garlic fries: large portion, a bit soggy, tasty, but not even close to La Boca's

Entrees:

Beef brisket w/fries: nice portion, tasty

Ribs: 3, 1 1/2 were overcooked ends (think shoe leather)

Pulled pork cake w/ confit potatoes: a compacted pork cake atop thick sliced unremarkable potatoes

3 teas, $75 pre tip

Overall it was a pleasant lunch, good service, nice atmosphere. The food was good, but with over 900 rest. IMO, not good enough for a return. It's essentially creatively plated barbque with a couple of extras thrown in. $25pp (for lunch) seems a bit much for good (not outstanding) bar-b-que when 3 courses at MiLa runs $20 pp and Cuvee $25pp.

I'm with ya on the boudin. I LOVED the garlic aoili and the breading was perfect...but definitely too much rice and not enough bam (or zip as you said). :D
