Good food at the Tet celebration this weekend

Post by hungryone »

Mary Queen of Vietnam church on Dwyer Road in NO East is having a Tet celebration this weekend (Fri, Sat, & Sun). Lots of really good food in a outdoor, church-fair setting. Pho, grilled meats, spring rolls, imperial rolls, fried bananas, etc.

I was incredibly disappointed to miss the festival, but was out of town. So please fill me in - how was it?

It was delicious, as usual. In addition to the viet dishes, this year's fest also included pozole, soft tacos with several homemade salsas, char-grilled oysters basted with nuoc cham, and raw oysters.

We also went this weekend.

They had MANY food stations all over the grounds, and along the perimeters.

the oysters smelled great.

Very nice crowd, lots of kids, cool band. American oldies Sat and Asian tunes Sunday.

The last Tet celebration I went to was in the late 60's, been shying away from them ever since.
