Best Gas Station Food

Post by HolyTrinity »

I'm compiling a directory of gas stations in Louisiana that also serve wonderful food. No Subway/Exxon combos, please. I am hopeful that my 'research' will eventually be published. I must admit I've never 'blogged' before but this site was highly recommended as a friendly and informative one and I await any and all suggestions from all of you. Note: Gas stations, please, not simply country stores. If the pumps haven't worked in a decade, no problem; they just need to be somewhere near the building. Thanks.

There is a place in Metairie on Airline called Kid Creole that is part of a gas station that is pretty good. They have po-boys and some pretty good plate lunches, etc.

Gulf Pizza. 446 Pelican Ave in Algiers. Old station dating back to 20's/30's. Probably hasn't seen gas in 40 years, but still the quaint old building with the old signage.

Oh...good pizza too!

+ 1 Gulf Pizza in Algiers Point. My husband and I just rented a house over there and we stopped at Gulf Pizza while we were looking around. We haven't had the pizza yet, but the pulled pork is fantastic! The owners Chris and Stephanie are really great people too.

I also love the chicken shwarma at the Shell station on Perkins in Baton Rouge. If you get off at Bluebonnet and go down to Perkins, take a left and it's about a mile to a mile and a half down.
