BTW, I don't blame her one bit....he had the mistress working in the store with her, in front of her face.

I like all the Randazzos king cakes the best and now I have one by my home and by work. They have a new one called Diane Randazzos in elmwood and they have another one at Sals snowball in metairie. I had one the other day and their :)wonderful and the filings like praline are made from real pralines... you can see them in the cake it's awesome.
Re: Best King Cakes...
Randazzo's has a praline filled kingcake? WooWOO! (lol, that's the last thing I needed to know, sigh....)

Re: Best King Cakes...
Had Randazzo's ex-wife's(?) king cake the other night. Meh. Nothing special.
Original Randazzo's is better. She should have taken the time to copy the recipe.
I do like Haydel's cream cheese KC also. Maybe it's mental but the cream cheese seems to cut some of the sweetness.

I thought I read, she did have the original recipe.
I am trying to behave, getting in shape for my ski trip, don't need the extra calories. I'll wait till right before the season ends.
I do the same with snoballs. I wait till they are about to close before I get one. Ya know that thing about betcha can't eat just one. If I started on king cakes now, I'd be buying one a day.

That's what I thought, too. I had a piece of Manny's yesterday and about went into diabetic shock. Damn, that's a lot of sugar.Yvette wrote:Really, that is interesting. I have not had her's yet.

Sam's on Airline is selling some from a place located in Harahan. many varieties to choose from. didn't try the sample though, so can't say if they're good.
I still like my Haydel's.

I never have been a fan of king cakes. Tons of sugar to no good purpose, IMHO. The only kind I have cared for were the simple ones Maurice's used to do with the almond paste. I assume he still makes those, but I am not intrigued by them enough to find out.
Re: the Randazzo story, sad that it came to that. Maybe someone should create the Mistress Cake. Whoever finds the figurine of the cheap tart from Metry pays the divorce settlement.

Had a bite of Dianne Randazzo's praline king cake a couple of weeks ago. I thought it tasted just like the Randazzo's on N. Hullen. Lord knows I had enough of those in my day, I used to work across the parking lot from their store
That said, I don't need to spend that kind of money on a pile of sugared cinnamon dough.
