Shrimp Fest

Post by sueinwis »

Last year we were in New Orleans in mid-June. We were delighted in finding the Shrimp Fest on the grounds of the US Mint that also coincided with the Grand Re-Opening of the French Market. We had a wonderful time sampling all the shrimp dishes despite the on and off thunderstorms!

I have search New Orleans websites trying to find this fest again. Was it a one time shot or is it an annual event?

Cuz........if you're having one we're going to be there!

Sue, offhand I don't know for sure. Have you tried googling New Orleans Shrimp Festival? That might answer your question. Let us know if you find anything, because I'd like to check it out myself.

We were in Gulf Shores a few years ago at the same time as their Shrimp Festival. My husband and I didn't go - we were there to escape the big crowds of NO, lol. But some of our friends went, and thoroughly enjoyed the different dishes.

are you thinking of the Louisiana Seafood Fest that takes place the same weekend as the Creole Tomato Fest and the Cajun-Zydeco Fest?
all 3 take place this year the weekend of June 12-14.

There's a Shrimp and Petroleum Fest in the Fall in Morgan City. See http://www.shrimp-petrofest.org/ Oh, don't worry, they don't berl the shrimp in light, sweet crude oil. :)

Hey Edible, thanks for reminding me. We went last year. We sweatted our asses off but it was fun. The snowballs and homemade lemonade kept us a little cool. As we were walking through the crowd I heard someone yelling "Mrs. Fury" and I had no idea who it was. Turns out it was a forum member I met a few years ago.

I didn't refer to the fest by the correct name. It is the Louisiana Seafood Fest. I have been given 2 different weekend dates. The first dates I received from Sharon Keating stating it's June 5,6&7th. The next person gave the dates of June 12,13&14th. I guess I'll have to wait until the website is updated.
