Lunch at Bacco today

Post by RouxTheDay »

I had clients in town (from Indonesia!) and took them to lunch at Bacco today. I hadn't been in a while but I really like the ease of parking...especially on a cold windy day.

We arrived at 11:45 and didn't have a reservation. It wasn't crowded at all and we were seated immediately. We shared a double order of the calamari which was served with crumbled feta (that had seasoning in it-?)
and it was delicious.
I had a cup of lobster bisque which was especially good on a chilly day. My entree was the truffle fettucini....(yes, I'm having celery for dinner) It wasn't as warm as I would have liked but it was fantastic. My boss had the lobster ravioli and it looked really good. The customers ordered the fish special and one had shrimp...it came with heads and tails on and he stared at it for a while. He seemed to have figured it out because he just about cleaned his plate like the rest of us.

The place was packed by the time we left. A few tables were having MULTIPLE 10cent martinis. The atmosphere was lively but not overbearing. I look forward to returning soon.

Being from Indonesia they should be very familiar with shrimp. Maybe it was just a variety he had not seen before...I think they eat very large shrimp and prawns over there.

It may have just brought up painful memories of a crustacean dinner with a past, lost lover...:covri:

Thats funny Roux, the last time I was there the truffle fettucini was barely warm and would have been sent back had not been for the company I was with. The Bacco Shrimp are phenomenal though!

I enjoy Bacco but often find my food not as hot as I'd like it to be.

That's really unfortunate about your food not being very warm at BACCO...I know whenever I go it's fantastic!

I went recently, and they are having a great special -- it's a 2-course pasta lunch for only $15!! I couldn't believe what a great deal that was....I got the Chicken & Stracci pasta which was delicious -- and to start I got the andouille and butternut squash soup...again, delicious.

I'll definitely go back very soon -- and I recommend the $15 lunch special.
