Re: Help! Le Crepe Nanou Dressing
I believe the mustard-heavy one is a basic mustard vinaigrette with an egg yolk. I would try mixing some dijon mustard, salt, pepper, maybe some tarragon vinegar and egg yolk, then drizzle in your olive oil. There may also be a finely chopped shallot in there. I'm not sure if they use any other herb...

Re: Cash for Clunkers - Appliances
Well, I went to A-1 yesterday and talked to a guy there. It seems there isn't any paperwork required to prove that you "recycled" the old appliance. I believe you just need to check a box on the form stating that your old appliance has been recycled. So... as far as I can tell it should be...

Cash for Clunkers - Appliances
Has anyone used this Louisiana program to upgrade any appliances? It opened up a few weeks ago, and I think the money has now run out, but I reserved a few rebates when it first started. The idea is that you recycle your old inefficient appliance and get rebates back when you buy a new energy star l...

Re: Byblos Now Open on Citrus & ?
Does anybody know if this new location is more like the market on Vets in terms of counter-service, cheap prices, or more like the locations in old metry and on Magazine?

Re: Another New Lunch spot in River Ridge/Harahan
Despite the fact that they've raised their prices twice in the past year, it's on my regular lunch rotation. The cuban is pretty solid, although it can be rather greasy. They have the standard lunch specials like red beans on Mondays; meatloaf; spaghetti and meatballs, etc. I do like the shrimp sala...

Re: Shimmy Shack?
It's actually in Elmwood/Harahan as opposed to Metairie. Same guys who used to be at River Shack with a similar menu. Burgers are good; seafood platters and po-boys are decent. I find myself getting the flatbread sandwiches pretty often. I agree that it often seems to take much longer than it should...

Re: Pizza Delicious
I tried it out this past Sunday as well. As Paz said, it is a fully functional catering kitchen that is used by others the rest of the week. It is, however, in the Bywater in the 3300 block of N. Rampart, as opposed to the Marigny. I was afraid the operation would be a bit sketchy, but it was not at...
Re: Crawfish
I got a sack at $2.75 a pound live from Dennis' in Metry yesterday. Still pricy, but should be coming down by this coming weekend with temps close to 70 every day this week. I've read that water temperature needs to hit 60 degrees to really get them moving.
Re: Crawfish
I'd like to keep this going to track prices as we get into the season. I had some on Saturday from K-Jean in mid-city. $4.99 a pound boiled, I'm almost embarassed to say, but saw them and had to have a few pounds. They were good-sized, but I don't think I've ever paid that much in my life. Have the ...

Re: Miami Cuban Food
Puerto Sagua on Collins and 8th is probably your best bet in South Beach.
Good, cheap respite from all the high end places around there. Very casual, walk in and grab a Presidente and an order of fried yucca.
All the cuban classics are well done there.
