I went to a little po-boy shop for lunch and had to endure political BS for the whole 30 minutes I was there.
First of all, I am beyond pissed about the market meltdown and it is going to really mess my life up in the near future. So I am waiting in line at this small place and the flat screen tv has Obama shouting his stump speech far too loudly for a place this size. Barrack tells me that this whole mess is Bush’s fault. Great.
After I sit down and am trying to enjoy what might be the best RB po-boy I have ever had, the owner comes over and starts sharing his ignorant political views with the 5 old ladies sitting at the table near me. Now not only do I have Obama yelling at me during lunch, I have a bunch of old hens cackling their non-sense/theories/BS too for the rest of lunch.
Guess I am just getting to be a grump and should learn to tune all of this stuff out.
Dammit, I need a drink now.


Note: For Choweb and anyone else who may try to turn this into a political mudslinging thread, the people near me were all pro-Mccain. The guy on tv was Obama. The politcal party or subject matter really is not the issue here.

My friend and I sat at Janita's Sunday morning after breakfast for about 2 hours because friends kept coming in, so we stayed while they ate and bullsh*tted. When the conversation turned to politics, I ordered a Champagne because everyone knows politics and alcohol don't mix. It was my way of ending the conversation.

And just for the record, imho, food & politics do not mix well. And I have no problem with asking them to turn off the TV or volume while I am wanting to enjoy my lunch.

It was Joe Seppies. I have had po-boys twice from this place in the past and they were very good then, but today it was even better.
I can't say what was better really, but something just seemed to give it an extra good flavor. I guess maybe the bread being toasted a little did it for me today also.

I thought they closed at 8pm and it was 7pm when I drove by.

I liked their RB too. And yes, toasting the French can make all the diff.

Thanks, Ill have to give it a try. One can never have too many perfect RB po-boys. I've been into Parasols lately but the last time the beef was too thick which made it tough.

You need an ipod with in-ear buds. Allows you to tune out crying babies, political rhetoric, a**holes, bigots, blowhards, airplane engines, etc. Plus, if you want to be left alone, you can just pop 'em in and not turn the thing on....people don't go all chatty on you.
