I keep seeing signs about Bubble Tea...will someone tell me what this is?

Frosty's Cafe on Cleary in Metairie is quite popular (I don't really like it myself) it's more "commerical" IMO.

Out in eastern New Orleans, the Vietnamese community, 2 places are

I like their thai tea, because instead being a frozen icey drink, it's more like an iced coffee.

it's a frozen drink, with fruit, and or milk, teas, different combinations, blended with or without tapioca pearls, which are somewhat like a gummy bear texture......semi sweet, chewy etc

Frosty's on Cleary just off of Vets probably sells more bubble tea than all other competitors combined. There's a little bubble tea shop on Airline across from Sam's, (just off of Cleary again) that makes a great bubble tea, too.

Grins..ok, then my next question is..what is on a Vietnamese po-boy?

I'm not sure what the viet poboy is, but I'd love to try one.

I really enjoyed the bubble tea I got, (I've only been to the place on Cleary once)... there are all kinds of varieties of fruit juices, even veggies I think. But the "bubble" part I could live without. After a couple, I just avoided them or spit them out. Suep told me it was tapioca... but it felt like rubber. LOL.

OH OK...that does look very good. I just realized that it's what Lorin blogged about this weekend. I'll have to try one...Doug being the picky eater that he is would never try it..but I will. I'll eat anything with veggies on it..lol

Duong Phong has about 10? differnet kinds of po boys, from vegetarian, meatball (pork version) fish, etc to the unusal. They are on french bread they make right there in the bakery, they are dressed with cucumber, fresh jalapeno, cilantro and a plum sauce. They are around 2.95 to 3.50 or 3.75 I believe.

I have been going for years, and they have all kinds of interesting Vietnamese desserts, pastries, and meat pies, etc that are all made on the premises.

Thanks for the link, admin... boy those sandwiches look yummy! I'm not a huge fan of cilantro though, I find it overpowering. I wonder if I could ask to have that left off?

I guess the bagette is a leftover to the culture from the French occupation. Very interesting, I can't wait to try one.
