Brett Anderson writes a report on Mr. B's, and gives it a Bean rating.
The very next day, TF issues a report on Mr. B's, and issues stars.

Someone called his show last Friday wanting to know his thoughts on Brett returning to the art of being a critic. Tom basically said he was glad it is happening, but it is about 2.5 years too late as he thought restaurants should have been reviewed starting six months after Katrina.

That is not at all the view I got from Tom. It seems he was wanting to baby sit all restaurants and make no judgements until maybe a year ago and even then it was dependant on which restaurant was in question.

Yes, what a pity we can't search the archives on the old board to have some of those comments as to TF's views after Katrina on how restaurants should be handled.

Wonder if Name Not Allowed extracted any of those for his blog?

The archives appear to be up on NewOrleans.com. If someone can help me out by extrapolating all of this and bundling it together in an e-mail or a pm for me, I will happy to post it and give credit where credit is due.

I remember many posts about not rating and not judging an experience because it was too early after the storm etc.

I guess Tom thinks this kind of event is funny also. From todays newsletter on his stop at Chateau Du Lac

**********

"It was a slow Tuesday in summer, and chef-owner Jacques Seleun came over to palaver. In the conversation, it came up that Brett Anderson--the critic for the Times-Picayune, which has not published a single rated restaurant review since the hurricane--will get back with the program this Friday. In fact, Jacques said, Anderson called the restaurant to check facts and arrange a photograph.

So, of course, I will make sure my review comes out the day before his. "

Brett should be pleased that TF is following his lead.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

You should never go to a restaurant within six months of a hurricane.

This is so funny, too. From today's menu daily:
Irrationally, I felt violated and impotent.
Irrational? Naw.
