The space is lovely, the view terrific, the food 5 out of 10.

Unfortuanately, the menu reads better than it tastes. Three of us ordered 4 apps and 3 entrees (2 were the same since the snapper sounded great...both left at least 1/2). The other entree was the meat paella...not made to order but appearing to have been scooped out of a larger pan then fluffed into a smaller one.

Patatas bravas were fairly large, soft cubes covered in a bland tomato sauce. Leftover then reheated poorly would be my guess.

I planned to review all our choices but there's really no point. There wasn't an item I'd order again.

Oh well, at least we had a restaurant.com coupon.

The restaurant itself is a stunner, but the service and the food on two occasions was lacking in a major way. 5 out of 10 is generous.

Not that this thread will make you want to go, but the French Market had a "Talk & Tapas" series at Galvez. Unfortunately, I think the last one of the season was yesterday--with Bob Freeland discussing New Orleans Spanish and Latin American connections. Maybe they'll resurrect it in the Fall? It's a good reason to go--have a glass of wine, pick up some knowledge and enjoy the view.

Probably since our illustrious "food critic" has dined there at least a couple of times. On second thought, maybe not. "Circumstances" sometimes cause an early visit. You know, this 6 month thing is self imposed and not hard and fast.

Just kidding. Loved it when Horst and Karen were there. I get my Pfeiffer fix at Middendorf's nowadays.
