About the last and only thing anyone anywhere said about them reopening in the new location was just that they did so, back in January. Is everyone observing the six month rule?

I was never a big fan of them in their original location. I thought they were a bit overprice. Now that they're in suburban Metairie, with no discernible difference from other joints, I think that other than nostalgia there's just no allure.

I've been once. I had a softshell crab poboy that was just OK. They've certainly fancied up the place since it's previous incarnation. The trout poboy is now gone from the menu, I am very sad to say.

I will go back, but I wasn't blown away the first time.

We have been a couple of times since we live within walking distance. I have found the food to be okay, but nothing to write home about. The food quality is very good, but I find the portions to be a bit on the smallish side and slightly overpriced. I would rate it pretty much on par with Acme, Yaegers, etc.

Meh! The onliest thing I ever liked about Sidmars was the camp-like atmosphere at the old place. Let me know when Sam Urrate opens a new Bruning's.

And then there's the highly professional and ethical wait staff.....

I love how he's booked with 36 misdemeanor counts of theft under 300. There's a Judge in First Parish Court wondering if the $200,000 she had to raise to be elected was worth it.

It is also fairly obvious that when the Sheriff's deputies arrested him for what is a misdemeanor charge, they decided to take matters into their own hands so to speak with the drug evidence.

I had a bowl of gumbo and an order of hush puppies at the new Sid-Mar's shortly after they opened. Perfectly good, but not enough to make me go back again and again.

I'm new to town, and never had a chance to eat at the old Sid-Mar's -- the story of their struggle with the land seizure is incredible. But everyone I talk to about the "old" Sid-Mar's vs. the "new" says the same thing -- the food was never really the attraction. It was location, location, location. People with great memories of the "old" will probably be their best, most loyal customers, but I wonder if that's enough to keep the "new" afloat?
