Cafe 615- Da Wabbit

Post by Oyster »

Went for a quick bite Thursday evening. I chose the Fried Shrimp with veggies (excelent!), wife had the Ribeye (steak is her choice nearly 99 & 44/100% of the time) with Sweet Potato fries. I enjoyed the shrimp, and the Tarter Sauce, and Cocktail Sauce were very tasty. The Ribeye was a bit of an issue. It was very fatty, probably close to 50%. The waitress noticed the fatty issue, and apparently notified the owner, Eric. He soon came to the table, and apologized. He immediaetly adjusted the bill, removing the charge from the tab. Honestly, this was not expected in a small, neighborhood cafe. After reading recent blog issues with other restaurants, I was impressed! I approached Eric upon leaving, told him it must have been an end cut, and he agreed, (as he had checked the steak in question) and I told him how much I appreciated his attention to the issue. He explained how he wanted to ensure that we would return, and I assured him that we would!

He mentioned that the Filet on the Special Board would have been a "better choice". On the Special Board, I was looking at the Frog Leg Special, but opted for the Shrimp. I did not notice the Filet.

Just a great "neighborhood" type restaurant, with some great specials from the kitchen. His handling of the issue we had gained points in my book. We WILL be back.

I love this place.

It's somewhat close to my work, and whenever we have time for a decent lunch it's almost always here. The daily specials are always good, as are the smoked chicken and fried seafood po-boys. The seafood gumbo is always good, too. Loaded with oysters and shrimp.

Thanks Jesse! I had reports from someone that did not care for the Seafood Gumbo, but you just sold me. You don't see oysters in very many anymore. I would love to have a place for a weekly bowl. Will try it soon.

I'm the same way...it's the often abandoned component, and that tends to let me down at restaurants. The last time I had it (two weeks ago) there were two big oysters and 4 or 5 small shrimp in the cup (not to mention the crab)....to me, that aint bad.

I'm in there pretty often, probably the only one in a flight suit. If you see me, stop by and say hi!

Glad you enjoyed it! It's one of our favorite spots...as we both live and work pretty close to it.

You absolutely HAVE to try the...
