OK, let me guess. Is he a buffone, flunked out of Jesuit, gets money under the table for eat club dinners, I can go on but you get the picture.

I love it when people misspell words like "buffoon".

This is unfair. As our friend has explained many times before, he is simply too famous and the New Orleans restaurant scene he operates in is too small for him to maintain anonymity. He reassures us that his dining experiences are no different than any other person off the street. How could he possibly educate the public on the finer points of Commanders, Galatoire's, the Besh and Emeril chains without his eat clubs, dinner cruises, TV appearances and other public outings?

Could you see the "buffoon" in NY or LA as a food critic. Wouldn't last a week.

He talks out of both sides of his mouth. Remember when he had a food
quiz on the radio and the prize...he would personally make a restaurant resv. for the winner so they could enjoy his dining experience. Mrs. F. (while hosting the show) stated that dining with her food critic husband was quite different than when shes dines without him. Educate the public??? This is a huge source of revenue/perks. Once money enters the equation, trust and objectivity are lost. "Money corrupts, absolutely."

I was aiming for sarcasm but must have just missed.

Several years ago, I was working at a new restaurant and we got a call from Mrs F for a reservation. T never called, never stopped by in advance and never asked for special favors. Mrs F did request a special table and made sure we knew who she was and who her dining company would be. Thus "the critic" could claim to remain pure but still suffer the benefits of being fawned over.
