Lunch today, absolutely the best fried oysters on the loaf. The texas toast really works great. Damn good fries also. Gumbo was really good also. Had to have a dozen raw, OK, not real salty with all the rain lately
GF's first time there, had to tell her about everything fried in lard after she ate or she would have never eaten. She really liked it though.
Love this place

The toast works better for me too, as I am not a fan of oysters on french. All you taste is bread. All I want to taste is oyster. I usually get a bun over french if not at Cassamentos.
In the old days on fishing trips, would pack a oyster knife and a loaf of bread. Pop a few fresh out of the water on a slice of bread, fold it over and...heaven!
Grandma cooked using Swifts Premium lard by the buckets, so Cassamentos really brings back the old days for me.
Your GF sounds great! Whatcya'll had for dessert?

Everything at Casamento's is gluten free but the gumbo and the spaghetti. I love that place too.

Tried Seither's the other night, and was amazed to find their oysters were clearly better!
