...the soft drink, not the drug.

In the past few years (post-Katrina), Coca-Cola from Mexico has been showing up at various stores, mainly convenience stores. Now I've seen it in Sam's.

It is my understanding that it is made with real sugar, not high frutose corn syrup. This might be the product that we remember back in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Has anyone tried it? Your opinion on it being the real "real thing".

I have heard that mexican Coca cola is made without high fructose corn syrup. I've never seen it so i cant confirm that it exists. However Coke...and some other soft drinks make a real sugar version for the Jewish community during passover. i have bought that locally at Kosher Cajun in met.. It really is the soda I remember from childhood. I always buy extra during pesach. You can tell its the real sugar version becasue its cap is yellow with writing that designates the Kosher approval.

I've seen the Mexican Coke at Sam's. You can buy it by the case in 12 oz. bottles. And yes, it has sugar instead of HFCS. I haven't tried it, but I suppose it might be worth buying some.

My friend has brought them to me from Tampa for years...It is definately the real thing....but the price is pretty steep....$1.79 for a "small" coke. I guess it depends on how bad you want it???
