In Rock/Pop circles, that has been the moniker applied to Paul Rodgers, of Free/Bad Company/The Law/Queen+Paul Rodgers fame. Undoubtedly, it's true the guy can sing anything, and whatever he sings he makes his own, even when he's filling in for Freddie Mercury. In revisiting some of my mp3 collection tonight, I realized that those same qualities are true of Elliot Yamin, runner-up from AI season 5. The guy is absolutely amazing:
