Bacco

Twice last week the weather forced me to change restaurants at the last minute.
Both times, I landed at Bacco. ...you just can't beat the convenient FREE covered parking when the weather is bad.

Wednesday was lunch with a client and it was perfect. I had the corn/crab bisque which was full of crabmeat. My entree was the chicken stracchi (sp?) I rarely order chicken in a restaurant but this tasted like something my mom cooked. Wonderful. I could have eaten another whole serving but was very satisfied.

Saturday we needed a spot to go before Gino Vanelli (go ahead, laugh, I still am) Cafe Degas was scratched off the list as we headed across the bridge because it was pouring. It was early (before 6) so we figured we could get in anywhere. My date had never been and Bacco seemed like a good option (Italian) for such an evening. I had the mussels and wanted to pick up the bowl and drink the juice...yeah, bread works but I was trying to eat too many carbs. My entree was the lobster ravioli which is more or less their signature dish. It was great but I think an appetizer size would have been good enough. I can handle rich but I found myself sipping water in between bites on this one.
The star of the night was the wine recommended by our waiter (Joey?)...a 2007 Bertani Amarone. Fantastic and priced right. (I know because I just looked it up:toast:)

Bacco has its swings. Good to know it is on the up swing right now.
