I have a friend coming in town with six ladies ages 50-60, who are looking for music venue/club to go to this week coming up. They like jazz.
I hate to admit, I don't do the club scene. I have been to Bombay to have cocktails and listen to the music there, and to the Ritz. Could you all please point me in the right direction.
They are staying in the Quarter and will be walking.
Thanks

Check Ogden's calendar for Ogden Afterhours. http://www.ogdenmuseum.org/calendar/index.html
I haven't been to Snug Harbor or Preservation Hall in years but I enjoyed jazz there many times. And I can't think of the name but someone had told me there is a bar in Metairie somewhere that Pete Fountain and all these old guys get together in on Sunday nights and have impromptu sessions. Years ago some German med students I spent a summer with went to that little place in the triangle in front of the French Market.

Here is one in the heart of the FQ at the Royal Sonesta. Right near many great restautants. Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse. Schedule of performances can be seen on this website.

Also, there is the Maison Bourbon Jazz Club for Dixieland (corner of BOurbon & St. Peter):

There is a Jazz Band playing in the courtyard next to Arnaud's Remoulade (across from Royal Sonesta), and a jazz Trio in Arnaud's Annex on the corner of Bourbon and Bienville (at least most evenings/Friday & Sat).
Also, Fritzel's in the 800 block of Bourbon for various types & styles of Jazz. The Crescent City Brewhouse has trios and combos playing many evenings.
And of course, the Sauna A.K.A. Preservation Hall for the original Old School styles.

Thank you soooo much. This is exactly what I was looking for. She will now have many choices.
