Metairie MEXICAN?
Hi guys-
Best childhood friend, Amy, is flying in for a visit on Friday. She's got a hankerin' for fajitas... any Mexican recommendations? Preferably near the Galleria...

Carreta's. It's ok, decent margaritas.

I swear the chef at Carreta's reads your mind as you walk through the door because the food arrives at the table with in 2 minutes of ordering it.
It's not really that good IMO but it might do the trick.
Taqueria Corona down by Jerry's store towards W Esplanade. Something like that anyway. Been to the one uptown many times over the years. Never for fajitas but the Numero Tres is good and plenty enough for 2-3 people.

Many thanks, my friends.... that's a great start. I seem to recall that Jerry mentioned that joint to me a few weeks ago.

I think I'm sold on Taco San Miguel, guys.... looks great, and only 2 1/2 miles away.... (which is a plus when sipping on Margaritas!);)BTG wrote:I love that place. Not sure if they have fajitas, but the tacos and other stuff I have tried there has been good.

Taco San Miguel's online menu has fajitas. I like the trompo, pork on a spit, as everything tastes better on a spit. they will do the same on a quesadilla, by request.BTG wrote:I love that place. Not sure if they have fajitas, but the tacos and other stuff I have tried there has been good.

Taqueria Sanchez is in a little piece of land on the South I-10 service road between Clearview and Causeway. It is pretty authentic if you're looking for the real deal. They used to serve out of their taco trucks until the J.P. council passed a law prohibiting them.
I really like the barbacoa tacos. They also have tongue and several other items. It's a dive though. Don't expect much atmosphere.
