Started looking for some rootbeers to try to find a favorite for us. We enjoy trying lots of foods in groups. We have twenty more chocolate bars to try when we have a chance. They are currently sitting next to the computer in a box mocking me. We are losing weight at the moment to prepare for a trip to Panama in a few weeks. I do not feel like buying new suits, so I have dropped fourteen pounds in the last two weeks to be back to normal weight which will enable me to fit into my current suits. If you have any suggestions for rootbeers for us to try from anywhere in the world, please post your suggestions. We have tried many rootbeers already, but want more to try.

St. Arnold's from here in Houston is my current favorite.

I have a bottle of Boylands that I'll be trying tomorrow and I will let you know how it stacks up.

I think Abita is as good as any, and I have tried a bunch (before Abita, I liked IBC, from St. Louis). I have not tried St. Arnold's, but I love their beer. Excellent Brown ale, seasonal Bock and others. Very good craft brewery. Along with Rogue and Abita, one of my favorites.

I have distant but fond recollections of Abita Root Beer from my time in New Orleans.

Today's testing of Boylan was foiled. I opened the bottle took a swig and realized immediately that something was wrong. Sure enough, I unintentionally purchased their cola product. It was OK, but I'm not a big fan of cola products usually so I was disappointed.

Will report back...
