Bozo's tonight

Post by sbu22 »

Never been and invited to dinner tonight. Heard it's good. Several questions: What's appropriate attire? Anyone have "favorites" or "avoid at all costs" suggestions? Appreciate it!

I like the fried oysters and the gumbo. Crispy cornmeal on the outside and juicy goodness beneath the coating. The gumbo is less dense than most places make it these days, but delicious nonetheless.

Hope you enjoy eating there as much as I have enjoyed it over many years.

It's very casual. Jeans/shorts are fine. The oysters are great, but don't miss the fried catfish. In my opinion it's the best in town now that Barrow's was killed by Katrina. (I love Middendorf's, by the way, too -- Bozo's, Barrow's, and Middendorf's were always my three top fried catfish places locally.)

So we went to Bozo's. Had a dozen raw and split a seafood platter with the gf. Wow!! The raw ersters were big and beautiful. Plump. I normally like the smaller guys, but these were magnificent. Don't think I've ever seen such pretty oysters. The fried catfish and oysters were very good, crab cake OK (but, I've never met a great crab cake - just me), and I didn't think much of the shrimp. All in all, laid back and great. Thanks for the good advice.

I was there Saturday night myself. The raw oysters were as described above. Best ones I've had in a while. The old guy that shucks there explained that the larger the black spot on the shell is , the better the oyster. Called them "cock" oysters.....anybody heard of this?????
