No, not Refuel, the restaurant with the second best grits in town. This is Fuel, the restaurant on the 4800 block of Magazine profiled in the recent TP Dining Guide. It looks interesting. The chef is James Leeming, recently of Dick and Jennie's.

I've had breakfast there since James started cooking. It was excellent. Coffee was ok and service sucked that day, but I hear the little chick behind the counter was promptly let go later that same day, so I'm willing to give it a try again. The food was way worth it.

It's right after Le Bon Temps by the corner of Magazine and Bordeaux. Fun people watching if you sit outside.

I finally went several weeks ago. It's a real keeper. Definitely in my regular lunch rotation from this point forward. We had the grits cakes with crawfish and the something sauce and a jalapeno johnny cake something with a something sauce. Very memorable had we not gone before JF kicked in with its customary gusto.

Nice, artistic decor. Friendly but limited service. Menu is also limited but well priced. My only quibble with the place is the plates are a bit small. They're like large tapas. The Mrs and I went and ordered two plates. We both left happy but hungry. Between two people, three entrees is the way to go if you're at all peckish.

Definitely check it out. Outdoor seating, as well.

What does it matter if you thought it was too pricey? I paid the bill.

Well after it became apparent you weren't giving me my latex body suit back, I didn't see the point in hanging around.

I gave this place a second chance today. I did discover a revelation. The iced tea is friggin' awesome. The food once again missed the mark. I had the scrambled eggs with jalapeño corn cake and creole sauce. It did nothing for me and I am still hungry. The price point here is low enough that it is worth checking out and the food isn't bad. But I won't be going back anytime soon.
