My wife and I went tonight, and just got back. It's a little early for dinner, but a 7 month pregnant wife gets to eat when she wants. We've never been here before, and it's really a beautiful restaurant with a huge garden outside. A big and very nice bar is the first thing you see as you come in, and I could easily see myself bellying up and having a few before dinner. Today I didn't, and we were seated immediately. The dining room was full and lively, the volume loud enough to talk freely but not imposing on your conversation.

Our waiter (and all the waitstaff, for that matter) was very friendly and professional. It's obvious they have a good training program here. He brought my cocktail quickly, and we started by splitting an order of crab cakes. They were lightly dusted with flour before being pan fried, and while I don't think the coating adds anything, they were very good and noticeably peppery. I then had the soup of the day, which was spinach & cream with oysters. It was very good with a couple of large, plump oysters. Next were the salads, which come with all the entrees. They were good and simple, greens and a couple of slices of red onion.

For entrees, we both had filets. They were cooked perfectly and tasted great. My wife had them add crabmeat & mushrooms, which were sauteed in butter, and she enjoyed that on the side quite a bit. You also get a choice of a baked potato or a sweet potato with the steak. The very good glass of wine I had with the steak was well priced, and served in very nice stemware. My wife commented that the steak was considerably better than the last couple she's had at Dakota. While I never had steak there, I did find the service and overall atmosphere more pleasurable than Dakota.

The chocolate mousse we split for dessert was light and plentiful. Overall, I think this is a top notch restaurant, and with a check total of $100 it's a great deal to top it off. When we left the restaurant at 7:30ish the place was packed, with both the two dining rooms and the bar full. We both really enjoyed every part of our meal, and I can honestly say I was surprised at just how good it was. The quality of the beef was very good, and certainly nothing to complain about, but if they would use prime and/or dry aged beef it would really take this place to the top level. If you live on the Northshore and haven't been here yet, go. And if you're from the Southshore, I really think you'll find it's worth the drive.
