King Cake and Air Travel?

I don't know where to put this, here or on the General Discussion board, but since we are talking about King Cakes right now, I thought I'd try here first.
Question, has anyone brought a King Cake as a carry on? I checked the TSA website, and it said as long as the "food" is wrapped. I called TSA and she assured me that as long as its wrapped, it will go through ex-ray, and might need an additional scan.
I would hate to get to the airport and throw away three king cakes
Thanks in advance.

Grins..I've never carried a king cake on board...but a couple of years ago...I had a smoked turkey, a bunch of ribs and a brisket in my carry on. The guys in the KC airport just laughed. I guess they've seen it all.

have you checked the price of shipping lately? most places are charging $45 for the cake and shipping.

My Jersey relatives always carry on food items (including pizza) when they visit. They also carry on NOLA food when returning. Never a problem. Should you decide to take other goodies, a bit of extra info: gel packs will be confiscated. Freeze perishables or mix in frozen items like andouille, tasso with unfrozen stuff like lump crab and shrimp. This has survived a 3 hr flight plus 1 1/2 drive to the shore from the airport.

You are right, $45.00-50.00 I am going skiing anyway and I wanted to bring two others for someone else. Total of three for less than it would cost to ship one.

I'd bring 4 and make friends with your flight mates...spread the bread!
