Hello all,

I'm a newbie and wondered if you may be able to direct me. I am a native New Orleanian but reside in Kansas City, MO.

Is there any place online I might be able to purchase the following items:

-Luncheon Meat
-Hog Head Cheese
-Boudin
-Antoine's King Cake
-Bunny Bread

TIA!!

Hi Southern Girl,

We moved to New Orleans in September of 2007 from Kansas City, Missouri. Enjoy KC..it's a great city!

Luncheon meat is available at Wal Mart, all across America. No need to pay mail-order prices for ConAgra's finest.

Antoine's bakery can be reached at 504-368-6222; call 'em and see if they'll deliver.

Bunny Bread is a brand owned by Flowers Foods; it is distributed in the Southeast. Flowers has a number of other brands--see here: http://www.flowersfoods.com/FFC_Brands/index.cfm Cobblestone Mill, Nature's Own, Sunbeam, etc. Perhaps one of their other brands will be close enough to Bunny to suit your tastebuds.

I have bought from this site to send food items to out of state friends and have been quite pleased. (I have no connection to the company)

Those packaged meats hanging up there next to the Oscar Mayer bologna, like pimento loaf, cheese loaf, boiled ham, etc. Cold cuts.

No, luncheon meat is a specific kind of cold cut: also called "luncheon loaf", it is a spiced, chopped pork loaf. It has a finely mottled, pink and white appearance (sort of the same look as pale skin when you're really cold, hence the condition junior high kids call "lunchmeat legs").

I know. But where kcdixiecat is from, the term encompasses more of those others as well. It's like square and rectangle. Luncheon loaf is a luncheon meat, but luncheon meat is not necessarily luncheon loaf. Or maybe not where kcdixiecat is from, but elsewhere.

I was defining the term as used by southerngirl in the original post. She's not talking about "cold cuts" in general, but about luncheon loaf. What you put on your Bunny Bread when you go fishing, or ya daddy ate it with a cold Dixie. What's not nice enough for finger sandwiches at a baby shower. You know, lunchmeat.

LOL Ok, now I really am completely confused. It's a specific kind of cold cut then. When I hear the term luncheon meat...I automatically think of bologna, salami, ham and cheese loaf, all of those things that a company like Oscar Mayer makes.

So, now...I see that I need to go to Walmart and look in the cold cut section for something specifically called luncheon loaf...is this correct?
