The latest development in the controversy over the shuttered Copeland's property at St. Charles and Napoleon, from Stacy Head's office:

Good afternoon all,

This Thursday's (12/18) at 12:30 p.m., the City Council will hear the
appeal of the HDLC's issuance of a Certificate of Appropriateness in
favor of Superior Seafood. The appeal is spearheaded by Mr. Jozsef
Toth (owner of the apartment complex on Napoleon directly behind the
restaurant). He will be speaking this Thursday in favor of a reversal
(and provided that a representative from the Church & Sophie Wright will
also be speaking).

His main complaints are as follows:

(1) The outdoor area upstairs that will be rented out on special
occasions.

(2) The trash the restaurant will produce and placement of trash
receptacles.

(3) The leasing of city land for sidewalk seating.

If you could, please come to Council Chambers this Thursday and speak
your position, or e-mail the Council your thoughts on this matter. Feel
free to forward this e-mail and do not hesitate to contact me for
additional information.

If this deal gets voted down, I hope the building turns into a rotting rat and crack head infested slum.
